Grain Supply Chain Benchmarking Studies
Part 1 - Port and Shiploading of Grain – Performance Indicators Benchmarking Report
The port and ship loading benchmarking study looks at key physical aspects and performance dimensions of port operations and grain ship loading in Australia and in selected areas of North America. The relative performance strengths and weaknesses are analysed.
History
This was the first of the AWB benchmarking studies and was released in 1992. The Operations Policy group led the study with John Marshall being the primary researcher and chief author. Rob Allen and Gordon Rodger provided significant input as well. The cooperation of the 18 grain loading ports around Australia and their respective grain handling organisations, together with a number of North America ports and grain handlers was crucial to achieving a successful study.
